The research includes the use of a spectrophotometric method for the determination of the drug promethazine (PRO) using the oxidative coupling reaction with the reagent sodium sulfacetamide (SCS) in an acidic medium in the presence of the oxidizing agent potassium iodate to form a green product that dissolves in water and gives the highest absorption at wavelength 599 nm. Beer is within the range (6.25-112.5) µg/mL and the molar absorbance value is 6.514 x 103 L.mol-1. CM-1, Sandell significance was 0.049 µg. CM-2, the value of the estimation coefficient was 0.9986, the recovery rate was 98.95, the detection limit was 0.177 µg.ml-1, and the quantitative limit was 0.537 µg.ml-1. The method was successfully applied to the pharmaceutical preparation (pills).
